The third meeting of the Italian national roller ski team is taking place in the heart of the Aosta Valley, with athletes and technicians who, from Monday 17 August and until Saturday 22, work intensely despite a 2020 season that has now gone up in smoke.
The director Michel Rainer summoned Jacopo Giardina, Emanuele Becchis, Michele Valerio, Luca Curti, Gianmarco Gatti, Giulia Cozzi, Elisa Sordello, Sabrina Borettaz and the sisters Lisa and Anna Bolzan; coordinated by the technicians Emanuele Sbabo, Solange Chabloz, Marco Ripamonti, Anna Rosa and the physiotherapist Antonio Giulio Ruggiero, the team is staying at the Hotel Relais Duberger, in Gressan, and has received a greeting from the deputy mayor Massimo Fiabene in the past few hours.
The manager responsible Emanuele Sbabo is satisfied and summarizes the progress of the meeting: "In recent days we made the ascent of Pila, almost 20 km, then we went to the track in Rapy, on the path that had hosted the World Cup relay in 2002. The boys of the Asiva Committee were with us, under the guidance of the coach Manuel Tovagliari, with them we did a fast, with a prologue and a chase with fast wheels.
Our team too had the opportunity to confront and compete through this simulation, then came the turn of the walk in the mountains, with the destination foreseen at Becca di Nona which, with its 3142 meters, gives the possibility of having a 360 ° view across the entire Aosta Valley. On Friday we planned another uphill time trial in classic technique, to understand how the preparation is proceeding. On Saturday we will close the meeting with a training session on the Bionaz roller ski slope. I am satisfied because we have done a lot of quality and a lot of diversified training - Sbabo concludes - In addition there will be sprint tests with Michele Valerio and Emanuele Becchis, where we use the gate at the start to simulate the World Cup qualifications ”.
