In the morning today, the FIS announced that, after a phase of close consultation with its stakeholders, it "decided with a view to maintaining the integrity of the competition and in the interest of safeguarding the safety of athletes, technicians and of any person involved, to cancel or move to another location all the World Cup events organized in Russia between now and the end of the 2021/22 season ”, given what is happening with the invasion of Ukraine.
Today the decision had already arrived to cancel the ski cross appointment in Sunny Valley (two races were scheduled on Saturday and Sunday), after a sham qualifying phase with only the Russians at the start and the athletes of all the other nations in solidarity in stopping , and therefore neither will compete for the Aerials sector this weekend, in addition to the conclusion of the women's jumping season with the two stages of Nizhny Tagil (18-20 March) and Chaikovsky (25-27 March) and the finals of the maximum circuit for cross-country skiing, scheduled in Tyumen from 18 to 20 March.
In the latter case, the Oestersund hypothesis for recovery seems to be the main suspect, with the FIS making it known that it is working to find dates and places for any recoveries.
