The Italy of roller skis has given itself an unforgettable 2021, a bit like all blue sport.
The world championships in Val di Fiemme, which ended on Sunday on the Cermis, saw the boys of Michel Rainer take home ten medals, with the gold masterpieces of Emanuele Becchis, Matteo Tanel, Elia Barp and Sabrina Borettaz, but in addition to the Absolute World Cup arrived just yesterday, thanks to the 3rd place in the mass start in classic, thanks to Tanel himself who thus won his second absolute crystal ball in the series, there is a very special victory for the national team.
After four years of chase, Italy in roller skis won the Nations Cup with 4270 points, against 3658 for Russia and 2318 for Latvia. The value of this trophy is particularly high, given that the blue team started from fourth place in 2018, and year after year has managed to climb the rankings to reach the top. It should be remembered that in the men's Cup, Emanuele Becchis also celebrates together with Tanel with the final third place.
Laura Mortagna is the second among the juniors, with 622 points, behind the Latvian Samanta Krampe with 683. Fourth Sabrina Borettaz, far from the podium. Elisa Sordello is sixth among the seniors, Riccardo Munari also on the podium among the junior males, with third place, Aksel Artusi, fourth at 429, also deserves a mention at the end of a long season.
