With an official note, the organizing committee announced that the event, scheduled from 23 February to 7 March, will take place without the presence of the public.

Even the Nordic World Ski Championships, after the Alpine Ski Championships in Cortina, are forced to raise the white flag, as regards the presence of the public in the stands during the event.
"Until the last we hoped to be able to count on a small amount of spectators, but after intense reflection the decision was to play the event behind closed doors for safety reasons" - this is the note that appeared on the official competition channels world champion.
In autumn Moritz Beckers-Schwarz, managing director of Nordischen Ski-WM GmbH, hoped to be able to play the event with at least 2000 spectators per day in the stands of the "Cross Country Stadium Ried" and 2500 at the "Schattenberg" for the jumping competitions. but the evolution of the pandemic has led the organizer to have to resort to the solution, unfortunately, more common in this period for sporting events: the dispute of the world championship event behind closed doors.
In 2005, when the Nordic World Ski Championships were staged for the second time in the German town, attendance in the stands reached 350 thousand; this year, however, they will take place in a rather atypical context.
