The jumper Canadian Alexandra Pretorius announced having to give up the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014. The eighteen year-old American was injured in a knee ligament in early August in Courchevel, but it was returned to training at the end of November with the aim of participating in the trial'' Five circles.

"Despite my hard work, I recently got a new knee injury for which I can not recover in time. This news breaks my heart, but I'll be rooting for all Canadians and I hope to participate in Pyeong Chang 2018 ".
In truth, rumors claimed that Pretorius had already had a relapse in December and that its participation in Sochi was highly at risk despite the formal inclusion in the team.
Canada has the right pectoral 3 in Olympic competition, but does not seem willing to replace Pretorius and therefore should appear in Sochi with the sun Taylor Henrich and Atsuko Tanaka.
Therefore, it may open the door for a repechage in the field of women. The first nation in the list of alternates is Norway, which should they decide to take advantage of the opportunities'', would rise to full contingent.
