Frenstat's second female Summer Grand Prix competition was characterized by the overwhelming return to the summit of Sara Takanashi, who not only won, but also managed to reopen the fight for the overall ranking of the top summer circuit.

The 21-year-old Japanese has been nominated as the number one favorite by making the best score already in the net. However, at the end of the first series of races he had to bend to compatriot Yuki Ito, good at exploiting more favorable wind conditions than direct opponents.
The two nipponics were however separated by only 1.6 points, though they were hunted by Maren Lundby, able to express themselves almost to the level of the Asians. Decisively more detached than all other athletes, it was understood that the podium would be a matter between the girls of Hokkaido and the Norwegian.
The latter was well expressed in the second series, but immediately after Takanashi achieved a superb performance, digging a deep groove between himself and the Scandinavian. In light of the length and judgment of the judges, it was unlikely that he would be able to remain in front of the fellow countryman.
Indeed Kamikawa's twenty-three had no way of replying to the compatriot. Moreover, he found a much weaker measure that made him lose his position as well, and went to Lundby himself, slipping to third place.
This is a major achievement in the race for success in the overall summer standings. In fact, after the disqualification suffered yesterday by Takanashi, Ito had his own fate in his hands as he could afford to always come second and put his hands anyway on the Grand Prix 2017. However, the situation is quite different.
Ito remains the leader of the overall standings with 220 points, but Takanashi raised to 180. Translated, winning the last two races, the phenomenal twenty-nine year-old Japan would automatically win the highest plastic circuit for the sixth consecutive year. Even Lundby, currently at 176, can be considered as a fight, albeit as a third uncomfortable one.
Returning to today's race, Irina Avvakumova and Lucile Morat have confirmed the fourth and fifth strength of the moment. Russia had to drink for the third consecutive time the bitter chalice of fourth place, still being largely detached from the podium. The French was fifth, reiterating the excellent moment of form.
About confirmations, it should be noted also that of Japanese Yuka Seto, again sixth, just ahead of Ema Klinec, the best among the Slovene players who included in the top ten also Spela Rogelj (ninth) and Maja Vtic (tenth). In the European medal of three, Julia Kykkänen, the eighth and the best seasonal result, came in.
Today's surprise is the Russian Anastasiya Barannikova, who is 11th in front of the blue Manuela Malsiner. The gardenese has become the protagonist of a solid performance on the backdrop of those shown last week at Courchevel and in yesterday's competition. In Italy home signs of life by Elena Runggaldier, good at exploiting favorable conditions in the first series, ranked 20 ^.
Negative day, instead, for Evelyn Insam and Lara Malsiner. The first did not gain access to the points zone, concluding 36 ^. The second, however, did not pass the qualifying rock, being eliminated before the race.
The Women's Summer Grand Prix will end in three weeks at Chaikovsky, Russia, where the last two races are scheduled (9 and 10 September).
In all likelihood, the highest summer circuit will be conquered for the sixth consecutive time by a Japanese. It remains to be understood whether this will still be Takanashi, or his fellow countryman Ito.
