Supremacy of Markus Eisenbichler in the first Coc competition of Stams

The first competition of Continental Cup, staged today on the Austrian ski jumping hill of Stams, saw at the partecipation of a very good starters field, since the hosts have employed the national group and almost all the athletes of the first team.

The race was dominated by Markus Eisenbichler, who crushed the competition in both series, winning clearly with 16.6 points on the crowd favorite Clemens Aigner.

The Austrian for his part led a very strong race, making the second score in both rounds. The Tyrolean so confirms his good shape and he proves to be one of the top athletes of the Rot-Weiß-Rot team.

Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes moved up to third place on the podium, returning at high levels a year after his comeback. In this way the Canadian confirms his good feeling with the Austrian ski jumping hill, where in 2012 he archived his only victory in Continental Cup.

Rok Justin stood sadly in fourth position, after finishing the first part of the race in second place tied with Aigner.

The main disappointment of day was Stefan Kraft, obvious favorite of the eve but at the end only 6th. The hosts did a really good performance, placing six athletes in the top 10. We highlight the excellent race of the seventeen years old Clemens Leitner, which stood in 5th place and second best Austrian.

We expected more from the young Czechs Tomáš Vančura (14th) and Vojtěch Štursa (21th), who had behaved well last week in the SGP in Chaikovsky.

All three Italians present in Stams gained some SGP points. Davide Bresadola, after finishing the first round 10th, lost some places in the decisive round and concluded in 15th position. Insam Alex and Sebastian Colloredo instead ended the race 24th and 26th respectively.

The overall ranking of the Continental Cup now sees gain the leadership of Eisenbichler (282), followed closely by Justin (279) and Zniszczol (268).

The next competition is scheduled for tomorrow morning on the Tyrolean hill.
