The Kiremitliktepe, the modern ski jumping stadium built in Erzurum (Turkey), is was severely damaged by a landslide in the afternoon of July 15.

The images of the disaster (available in a photo gallery by clicking the link to the site haber3.com) are impressive.
The landslide took place in the early afternoon of July 15 and has destroyed the landing zones for all five trampolines built (K20, K40, K65, K95, K125) in addition to the stands of the stadium. Fortunately there were no casualties, nor wounded.
The landslide would result from the heavy rains that hit the region in the spring. Some sources state that already a few weeks ago had appeared worrisome cracks in the towers of the two trampolines more large.
On plants in Erzurum, reeds used last week for some training camps were held the Winter Universiade 2011 and the Junior World Nordic Ski 2012, in addition to several races of Continental Cup jumping and Nordic combined.
Turkey has invested heavily in ski jumping, coming to engage Pekka Niemilä, former coach of France and Finland, with the aim'' to qualify more an athlete's Olympic Games in Pyeong Chang, 2018.
At this point, however, the future of the ski jump is turkish uncertain. It is not yet clear what is the'' amount of damage, but most likely we are talking about millions of Euros. Moreover, it is not still possible to estimate the cost of repairs, as the area is still off-limits because the authorities concert believe the risk of further landslides.
