Over the weekend the first major event of the season that will lead to European and World Championships: Arianna Fontana absent, the Azzurri with a young and motivated group.

The short track World Cup is kicking off, with the first of six rounds of the main circuit scheduled from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th October in Montreal.
There will be an Italian national team with a decidedly low average age and without that totem that for over 15 years has maintained the movement at very high levels: as is known, after the second Olympic title Arianna Fontana has decided to breathe a little again, with that crazy idea, which is not all the crazier, of reaching the sixth participation in five circles, to look for other legendary companies at the Milan Cortina 2026 Games (exactly twenty years after the debut in Turin 2006).
The issues with the FISG will also have to be resolved first, in the meantime the teammates of the Valtellina champion will start the 2022/23 season on Canadian ice; returning from a ten-day meeting at the headquarters in Bormio, the Azzurri will already have the point of reference in this first stage of CdM in the great talent of Pietro Sighel.
The 23-year-old son of art will immediately aim for the podium area, leader of a men's team which, among others, will also count on Luca Spechenhauser, Tommaso Dotti, Andrea Cassinelli, Yuri Confortola, with Arianna Valcepina and Arianna Sighel in a renewed women's team . Leading the blue teams are coaches Derrick Campbell and Nicola Rodigari, with the technical director of the national teams, Kenan Gouadec.
