The skeletonist will compete under the flag of American Samoe in the 100 meters, by virtue of his maternal origins.

From ice to the athletics track: the American Nathan Crumpton, a naturalized American Samoan, has qualified for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, where he will compete in the 100 meters flat.
Nathan Crumpton, born in Kenya to US parents, made his debut in the 2015 Skeleton World Cup, taking 5th place in 2016, in Park City, as his best career result. In the same season he finished the World Championships in 8th place.
From the 2019/2020 season, due to his American Samoan origins, he decided to change nationality, starting to represent American Samoe. In the last two seasons, excellent results have been achieved in the Nor-Am Cup and some top ten in the European Cup and in the International Cup. The 35-year-old's real feat was to qualify again for the World Cup, also participating in the last Altenberg World Cup.
For the skeletonist, therefore, the next eight months will be very intense, as he will play both a summer Olympics (from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo) and a winter one (from 4 to 20 February 2022 in Beijing). The preparation for the two major events, however, does not seem to scare the native of Nairobi: "The workouts for 50% are identical between the two disciplines, in the skeleton the technique clearly changes a bit. In addition, the duration of a sprint of 100 meters is three times higher than the thrust made at the start of a skeleton race. "
