Double medal at the opening of the Sled World Championships: silver and bronze for the blues in Sochi

The sprint races see Rieder-Kainzwaldner second in the double and Dominik Fischnaller bronze in the single, on the day of Russian domination.

An amazing start, with a double medal of great technical value for the Italian sledding team engaged in the world championships in Sochi. Great satisfaction came from the three sprint races scheduled today in the opening of the world championship: the duo formed by Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner, who dyed himself silver and reached only 45 cents from the Russian couple Denisev-Antonov. Third place for the Germans Wendl-Artl, with two other blue couples in the final, or Rieder-Rastner and Nagler-Malleier who finished in eleventh and fifteenth positions respectively. Dominik Fischnaller, in a practically perfect season, did not betray himself by taking bronze in the single: in this case too, Russia triumphed with Roman Repilov, who burned the Olympian David Gleirscher for only 6 thousandths. Twelfth instead Kevin Fischnaller. And the hosts' domination day was completed by a brace in the women's single sprint race, with Ekaterina Katnikova ahead of Tatyana Ivanova, while Verena Hofer placed 13th. Andrea Voetter, however, had not centered access to the final.
