Fischnaller doesn't miss a beat: 3rd place in Sigulda, the podium is worth defending the leadership in the general

Luge World Cup: in Latvia the hosts dominate with Aparjods and the relay team (where Italy wastes a chance and is fourth), but the South Tyrolean is very solid and can now dream big.

Dominik Fischnaller doesn't miss a beat, after the two victories in Park City he also climbs onto the podium in the 2023 opening, in Sigulda, and remains the leader of the general classification of the World Cup, giving Italy another result of weight after the 3rd place of the double Rieder/Kainzwaldner yesterday in the opening of the two days in Latvia. Very important placement that of the Olympic bronze, also because Wolfgang Kindl still finishes very far away, only 11th, while it was really impossible to think of being able to beat a Kristers Aparjods who, on his home gut, makes a vacuum on everyone, including the Germans, right from the first heat: Max Langenhan will finish second, 253 thousandths behind the Latvian, burning the same blue by just 0"014, who in turn takes away the podium by 23 thousandths from Felix Loch, who dropped from 2nd place in the middle of the race to the 4th final. In the men's singles race, Leon Felderer's 14th place and Lukas Gufler's 15th also arrive in Italy. The test of the relay team went less well for the national team: with Austria overturning, effectively opening up a place on the podium, the Azzurri did not go beyond fourth place, with Sandra Robatscher, Dominik Fischnaller and Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner who paid more than a second behind the Latvians, who still won with Vitola, Aparjods and Bots/Plume. Just over two tenths of margin on the German squadron, with Eitberger, Loch and Wendl/Artl beaten, while the United States trimmed almost 3 tenths off Italy, conquering the third step of the podium. The luge circuit remains in Sigulda, where next weekend there will be another stage valid for the European championship, replacing the one originally scheduled in Lillehammer.
