The Italy of sledding closes in a big way in Igls: Kevin Fischnaller, 2nd in the sprint, wins (with Loch) the specialty cup

The last stage of the cup before the World Championships in Koenigssee sees the blue treat himself to the trophy won on a par with the German ace, third in the race won by Pavlichenko. Rejoice in the other tests Geisenberger, Taubitz and the double Steu / Koller, who brings home the absolute crystal ball.

The Italy of sledding greets the World Cup stage in Igls, after the triumphant double of Rieder / Rastner on Saturday, with another really important podium. In the format in which he is most at ease, namely the sprint race, Kevin Fischnaller hits a magnificent 2nd place and wins, in cohabitation with the ruler of this season Felix Loch (now third), the specialty cup. Sixth Dominik Fischnaller, after a descent with some slight flaws, and today's victory is for the Russian Pavlichenko who interrupts the successes of the season of the Germans in men's races. Sprint doubles race that gives the Steu / Koller duo the absolute crystal ball, fourth time in history for the red and white colors and a victory that was missing in Austria from the success of the Linger brothers in the 2011/12 season. The Teutonic domination of the last 8 seasons has been interrupted. Austrians who with today's second place, in the race won by the Sics brothers, also win the specialty cup. Podium completed by the German double Eggert / Benecken, while Rieder / Rastner do not grant an encore in Austria and finish in fifth place, losing everything in the final. The other blue crews are respectively in tenth place (Rieder / Kainzwaldner) and eleventh place (Nagler / Malleier). Double challenge today instead for the single female. Natalie Geisenberger is again ahead of everyone in the “classic” race, with the Bavarian who stamps the 47th victory in the single (51 in total) and gets behind her rival Julia Taubitz. Behind the two Germans the American Summer Britcher returns to put her feet on the podium; excellent performance for the blue Andrea Voetter, seventh with a very consistent race. Just off the podium, the Russian Katnikova, the other German Eitberger and the hostess Egle, feel colorless for the other Russians. The other blue: with a good second heat, Verena Hofer finishes in 21st position, Marion Oberhofer and Nina Zoeggeler are classified 23rd and 26th respectively. In the final sprint, however, here is the sixth victory of the season (3 out of 3 in this competition format, with the specialty trophy obviously taken home) for Julia Taubitz, who forces her to second place, for the ninth time this year , a Geisenberger who, however, maintains a 74-point advantage over her compatriot with one match remaining. Eitberger completes the podium in yellow and black colors. The only blue in the race is Andrea Voetter, who finishes 11th. The World Cup season stops now to give space to the World Cup, scheduled in Koenigssee next weekend. Matteo Collodoro
