The 2023 World Cup opens with the top 3 found by the South Tyroleans, beaten only by the hosts Bots/Plume and Wendl/Artl. This time the leaders of the ranking in the women's doubles, Voetter / Oberhofer, do not hit the podium finishing fourth, while the women's single speaks German with Eitberger. And on Sunday it's Fischnaller's turn.

The fourth stage of the World Cup is also off to a great start for Armin Zoeggeler's team, but this time it is the men's doubles, hitherto dry in the season, that conquers the top result of the day in Sigulda.
Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner closed in third place a race disputed at very high levels by the historic South Tyrolean duo, in their fourth career podium (which they had been missing for almost a year): the winners are the Latvian hosts, Bots/Plume, with 156 thousandths of a margin over Wendl/Arlt, while the Azzurri pay 382 and precede by more than a tenth two totems like the Germans Eggert and Benecken.
Seventh place for the second Italian crew, the one formed by Ludwig Rieder and Patrick Rastner.
For the first time this season, however, no podium for Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer: the rulers of the women's doubles season, in fact, on the Latvian gut have to settle for fourth place, with Upite/Ozolina giving the home team another success, beating the American Forgan-Kirkby by a couple of tenths, with the German Degenhardt/Rosenthal third. The good news for the Azzurri concerns the placement of their rivals for the cup, the Austrians Egle/Kipp who are just sixth, at the bottom of the standings.
At the opening of the day in Sigulda, the stamp of Germany had arrived in the women's singles: Dajana Eitberger closed in front of all, dominating both runs albeit with a small margin, or 94 thousandths, over Elina Vitola (with Latvia close from the trio of successes), with the other Germans Julia Taubitz and Anna Berreiter respectively third and fourth.
Sixth place is important, after all the physical troubles of recent years, for Sandra Robatscher: the South Tyrolean is the first of the four Italians in the standings, with Andrea Voetter eighth, Verena Hofer twelfth and Nina Zoeggeler eighteenth.
The grand finale will take place on Sunday, with the men's singles featuring Dominik Fischnaller in particular, as leader of the general classification, and the team event with Italy starting off for a podium result.
