The preparation of the Azzurri on a long track resumes: three key weeks in Baselga di Pinè

Sports director Maurizio Marchetto: "We have to catch up with our rivals, especially on a technical level after the long stop."

The preparation path of the long-track national team in this troubled 2020/21 season starts from Italy and Trentino. The blues of sports director Maurizio Marchetto and sprint coach Matteo Anesi met in these hours in Baselga di Pinè, on the ice of the Ice Rink Pinè, for three weeks of work (until November 21) to help re-tie the threads of a preparation abruptly interrupted for a month now after the cancellation of the meeting scheduled in Inzell, Germany, in October. "In Inzell there were not the best conditions to guarantee the full safety of our children and so we decided to stop - explains Marchetto - We had never had to find ourselves struggling with a forced stop for a month, but we are facing a totally anomalous situation and we must adapt. Certainly the nations that have continued to train and even compete in recent weeks will be ahead of us. I am sure that our guys have trained individually with constancy and commitment in this period, albeit dry: we must now get back on the ice and recover the technical aspect even if, without a clear horizon and confirmed events, it is difficult to plan. From here on, being able to count on a beautiful track, that of Baselga, which however remains an outdoor facility, if the conditions allow it we will alternate training on ice with training in other locations. We will do our best". Twelve athletes will take part in the entire gathering in Trentino: Federica Maffei (CS Carabinieri), Laura Peveri (Fiamme Oro), Linda Rossi (Torollski Center), Francesco Betti (Fiamme Oro), David Bosa (Fiamme Oro), Andrea Giovannini ( Fiamme Gialle), Michele Malfatti (Fiamme Gialle), Mirko Giacomo Nenzi (Fiamme Gialle), Jeffrey Rosanelli (Sporting Club Pergine), Enrico Salino (Fisio Pro Team), Alessio Trentini (Sprinters Ghiaccio Pergine) and Nicola Tumolero (Fiamme Oro). Davide Ghiotto (Fiamme Gialle) and, from the 16th of the month, Francesca Lollobrigida (Air Force) will join the team from 9 November. Waiting for news on the second part of the season and on the events of 2021, therefore, Italy is working to be ready.
