Paradoxical situation in Sunny Valley: qualification with only home athletes (7 women, 6 men), while all the compact nations, in open protest at what is happening with the war in Ukraine, have decided to desert the stage which includes two races in the weekend.

An eve never seen before, for the world of ski cross that should have experienced a very important event, the third last of the World Cup season, with the two races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday on the Russian snow in Sunny Valley.
What happened with the invasion of Vladimir Putin's army in Ukraine led all the federations of the nations involved, with the exception of the host Russia, to desert this weekend's appointment en bloc. A strong decision, of great unity, which clashes with the silence of an FIS that covers itself with ridicule, regularly staging a qualification, the one disputed at the Italian dawn on Friday, with 7 women and 6 men at the gate, naturally only Russians.
From Germany, which yesterday announced the return home of its athletes, to Sweden of the cup ruler and new Olympic champion, Sandra Naeslund, to the squads of Switzerland, Canada and France, to Italy with its five standard bearers (Deromedis, Gunsch, Tomasoni, Zuech and Jole Galli), no one will compete in Sunny Valley and it would be a very serious signal if the International Federation were to allow two ghost races, between Saturday and Sunday, in such a situation.
