The South Tyrolean specialist has already undergone an operation in Bolzano, after the injury suffered during the qualification for the World Cup race in Stubai.

The Italian freestyle loses a point of reference for the national team for the entire Olympic season. Unfortunately, the seriousness of the injury suffered by Ralph Welponer, who fell last Friday in the qualification of the slopestyle race in Stubai, the second appointment for the 24-year-old South Tyrolean in the World Cup season, has been confirmed, after starting with a good 16th placed in the big air of Chur.
Welponer was successfully operated on at the Orthoplus clinic in Bolzano, for the reconstruction of the cruciate ligament, the medial collateral ligament and for the removal of the meniscus of the right knee. The operation, carried out in collaboration with the FISI Medical Commission, was perfectly successful and will allow the blue specialist to begin rehabilitation in the coming days.
Ralph suffered the cruciate rupture of the same knee a few seasons ago and his return can only take place at the beginning of the 2022/23 vintage.
