At the end of the FIS congress the official nature of the change, but for the next editions of the World Cup it will not change much.

The last to decide to leave alpine skiing to start a new adventure in skicross is the now former Austrian slalomist Mathias Graf, who at 25 will start competing in the freestyle scene starting from next season.
Freestyle ... for a little while longer, as ratification will arrive on Friday 4 June: skicross will become part of the alpine skiing disciplines, while maintaining its autonomy with a dedicated sub-commission. Only official status is awaited at the end of the FIS congress, for a discipline that in 2002 experienced its first World Cup in Tignes and its debut at the Olympics at the 2010 Vancouver Games.
In any case, not much will change for the discipline in the medium term, as Rémi Sella explained to his colleagues at “Ski Chrono”; the deputy technical director of the French national team and representative within the FIS, confirmed that for the 2023 World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, but probably also for the Swiss ones in 2025, the skicross world championships will still be organized in collaboration with snowboard cross.
“It is also clear that the disciplines are too different - Sella's words - We have to adapt the regulations, but not much will change for now. We will have a fairly standard program for next season ”. The 2021/22 vintage will start, as has become tradition, on the French snows of Val Thorens at the beginning of December.
