New Zealand ski areas have announced closure for the next three days, until Friday, August 20, as the country enters a national "level 4" block.

Level 4 is the alert level and the highest for New Zealand and is due to a single case of the virus found in a 58-year-old man who was negative up to the time of the test.
New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world that to date has maintained a pseudo-normality over the past 18 months by locking up the country and adopting strict blocks on the occasion of every single case of the virus. A national bubble with only a few exchanges with neighboring Australia.
Level four - dubbed the "elimination phase" - means that people have to stay in their own home. Travel is only permitted for urgent and non-deferrable reasons. It is also forbidden to practice ski mountaineering.
The closure of the country's ski areas comes after the season's heaviest snowfall for many, with some resorts reporting around a meter of snow in the past seven days.

Mottarone
Il Mottarone, alto 1.492 metri, sorge in una posizione privilegiata tra il Lago Maggiore e il Lago d’Orta.
