New Zealand in "level 4" lockdown. All ski areas are closed

New Zealand ski areas have announced closure for the next three days, until Friday, August 20, as the country enters a national "level 4" block.

Level 4 is the alert level and the highest for New Zealand and is due to a single case of the virus found in a 58-year-old man who was negative up to the time of the test. New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world that to date has maintained a pseudo-normality over the past 18 months by locking up the country and adopting strict blocks on the occasion of every single case of the virus. A national bubble with only a few exchanges with neighboring Australia. Level four - dubbed the "elimination phase" - means that people have to stay in their own home. Travel is only permitted for urgent and non-deferrable reasons. It is also forbidden to practice ski mountaineering. The closure of the country's ski areas comes after the season's heaviest snowfall for many, with some resorts reporting around a meter of snow in the past seven days. [instagram: CSq2DcDBHH5]

Mottarone

Mottarone
