A tragedy occurred around 9.30 today in Cortina, in the area of Tofana di Rozes, above the Giussani refuge. As reported by the site of "Il Gazzettino", a 23-year-old boy from Belluno died under the snow, after being dragged over 200 meters by an avalanche; engaged with him in technical mountaineering maneuvers, the 27-year-old brother who was saved instead. Tragedy occurred when the two young people, coming down from the Rozes, instead of returning in a traditional way from the shoulder, kept to the right of the Spigolo Zero taking a canal that leads behind Punta Marietta. In the middle of the descent the avalanche broke off, with the body then found at an altitude of 2550 meters. The carabinieri of Cortina have investigated the accident, with the men of the mountain rescue of the Guardia di Finanza on the spot to try and save the boy, while the prosecutor on duty, Katiuscia D''Orlando, has already made the body available to the family. Also this morning, a tragedy touched also on the Marmolada glacier: around 11, an avalanche in the Punta Penia area fortunately did not involve people, with some ski mountaineers who sounded the alarm by witnessing the scene. With the rise in temperatures, the risks rise enormously and, as confirmed by the councilor Gianpaolo Bottaci, interventions are underway in the Belluno area, in the Comelico area and in Marmolada to verify the situation.
