World Snowboard Championships: fifth world title for Benjamin Karl, who beats Prommegger after defeating the Russians in the semifinals (with March and Bormolini out already in the second round). The phenomenal 17-year-old outdoes Hofmeister in a stunning women's final.

An all-Austrian final, among the great veterans of the red and white team capable of dominating the parallel slalom that closed the world championship in Rogla, from which Italy comes out with Roland Fischnaller's silver in PGS.
Benjamin Karl gives himself, on the Slovenian snow and eight years after the last time, the fifth world title of an extraordinary career; the 35-year-old from Sankt Poelten overcame the eternal Andreas Prommegger in the final, for only 9 cents, who had mocked the big favorite, Dmitry Loginov in the semifinals, in the end forced to settle for bronze by beating compatriot Andrey Sobolev in the small final.
It was not the day of blue dreams, with Edwin Coratti and Daniele Bagozza already out in qualifying and the comparisons with the Poles Nowaczyk and Kwiatkowski that proved fatal, already in the second round, to Aaron March and Maurizio Bormolini.
At the female level, with Nadya Ochner (the only blue at the start) already out in qualifying with the 30th time, the expected triumph of a phenomenon that goes by the name of Sofia Nadyrshina has arrived. The 17-year-old Russian, already silver yesterday (reassembled in the last gates) in PGS, wins the final against Ramona Hofmeister, winning her first world title also at a senior level, after taking revenge on Selina Joerg in a very tough semifinal. The bronze went to the parallel giant world champion, who beat Canadian Megan Farrell in the small final.
