The 'red gold of Storo

Trentino & egrave; full of typical products that express and enhance the territory, many of which are grown and produced in harmony with nature, rediscovering ancient cultures and traditions. Among the typical products of the region, one stands out, like a precious red gold: the flour of Storo, typical of the Valley of Churches.

The Valley Churches, named dall''omonimo river that runs through it, belongs to the inner Giudicarie. Here, on the border with Lombardy, is Storo, a common & egrave; almost a district that winds through the mountains, with a flat perfect for the cultivation of corn. The flour of Storo, known everywhere as a unique ingredient of polenta Storo, comes from an ancient variety & agrave; corn, grown in the area: wheat Marano di Storo, characterized by red beans that give the flour a typical intense yellow color. Marano corn is grown in the Plain of Storo, respecting the cycles of nature, without any agronomic. The pristine place where it is grown, allows you to have a genuine flour, with property & agrave; unique organoleptic. The ears of this grain are harvested in late October, and dried in a totally natural way, taking advantage of the 'mountain air. Once shelled, they are ground slowly, to respect its property & agrave; organoleptic, to the mill of Storo. The yellow flour of Storo & egrave; easily digestible and has a unique flavor, perfect for preparing polenta or other dishes and serve the taste of Trentino. This flour & egrave; a key ingredient of some typical dishes of the area: the carbonera polenta topped with salami paste and mountain cheeses streamers, polenta macafana, with chicory and spressa Giudicarie DOP and cookies of yellow flour of Storo. The Cooperative of farmers Agri''90 combines many farmers Trentino South West and offers a wide range of mountain products, such as wheat, strawberries, raspberries and brown. The Cooperative & egrave; Founded in June of 1991 and has recovered a historical tradition, made of old mills gi & agrave; active over the years' 20s.
