Dorothea Wierer, 30 years of winter sports queen: "Special birthday, I want to continue"

The biathlon champion turns 30: an extraordinary career that only lacks Olympic gold. Appointment in Beijing 2022? Almost certainly yes ...

A day of celebration at the Wierer house, in quarantine with her husband Stefano Corradini and limited travel, but also the serenity of the house after an unforgettable season. Today, Doro, the queen of blue biathlon and now a star of winter sports in Italy and beyond, turns 30 today; the one-two World Cup in Anterselva brought the South Tyrolean straight into history, the encore in the World Cup perhaps even further, but already looking ahead and thinking ahead, albeit with all the will to take the rest and space needed to recharge. It is one of the themes of the interview given by Dorothea to the Gazzetta dello Sport: with Francesco Ceniti there is talk of the "will to continue, but on the right conditions and together with the team with which we have won a lot". A clear warning, already raised several times by Wierer, to underline the importance of not dispersing the group of technicians and skimans who have worked with her in recent years. Only the Olympic gold is missing in a wonderful bulletin board: the appointment is set in Beijing 2022, even if now the thoughts are on a little training, relaxation and the desire that everything ends soon. "The heroes are out there and they are doctors and nurses working to save lives and eradicate this virus."
