The verdict arrived from the votes of the fans is clear: biathlon is increasingly in the hearts of Italian fans and Dorothea Wierer, with her triumphs in the extraordinary 2018/19 season (World Cup absolute and world title in the mass start), she deserved the FISI Year Athlete Award. It is the South Tyrolean champion to inherit the title won in the last two years by Sofia Goggia, and is a first for the biathlon in the 35-year history of the most coveted award of the Italian Winter Sports Federation; Wierer passed Dominik Paris, also the author of an incredible vintage, with the world super-g title and the World Cup won in the same specialty. The Val d'Ultimo sprinter "consoled" himself with the prize for the FISI year and the "Cristallo d''Oro" awarded by the Sci Club Forlì.
