In Norway, cross-country skiing and biathlon are more popular than the Champions League final, even if you race on asphalt using skirolls. This is what emerges from the data published by the Norwegian biathlon federation about the broadcast of the Blink Festivalen.

The summer festival, which took place in the vicinity of Sandnes in late July, was broadcast live by the NRK broadcaster, which saw a huge number of viewers across the fjords. No doubt, the Blink Festivalen was the most popular sports event from April 1 to this day.
To make a comparison, think that the World Cup qualification match between Norway and the Czech Republic had an average of 487,000 spectators, while the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus was followed by 482,000 people.
Well, the Blink Festivalen did better. In particular, the closing day of the event attracted 498,000 Norwegians, while Lysebotn Opp - the Thursday 's climbing test - was followed by 491,000 enthusiasts.
It should be noted, however, that the biathlon and skiroll competitions were mostly in the afternoon, while football matches were in the early evening. The share data is in fact eloquent. The three days of the Blink Festival have fallen below just 50%, while the two so-called football matches have had a percentage of listeners equal to 43% and 35%, respectively.
The analyst at Nrk Kristian Tolonen said "this is very good listening for the month of July. Obviously Blink Festivalen has become a very popular tradition. "
"This shows a huge interest around the bottom and the biathlon in Norway, even if you race on asphalt rather than on the snow. This is a confirmation that we have gained a solid audience regardless of the climate, "said Rakel Rauntun, secretary general of the Norwegian biathlon federation.
