An important farewell for Austria and for the biathlon movement in general.
At 35, Julian Eberhard says enough with the competition: the same OESV has announced the retirement of the veteran from Salzburg, practically in the pits for the entire last season, given that the injury suffered in Oestersund prevented the native from Saalfelden to return in time to win a place in the Olympics, he who had just touched the bronze medal in the 2018 PyeongChang Games Sprint.
“After careful evaluation, I decided to end my career - Eberhard said - I have been participating in World Cup competitions since 2006 and have lived for the sport of biathlon every day ever since. I'm looking forward to growing professionally and having more time for my family. In addition to my first cup win, the home World Cup in Hochfilzen was a dream; I want to take this opportunity to thank all my teammates and the people who have supported me over the years ".
The Austrian biathlete has won four individual victories in the World Cup, with 13 podiums in total and two medals at the level of world championships; third in the mass start of Oestersund 2019 and bronze, two years earlier in Hochfilzen, with the relay.
