The Finnish government allows the presence of the public, albeit in reduced form, for sporting events: up to 4,500 spectators per day may be present inside the "Kontiolahti Biathlon Stadium".

The 2020/21 World Cup season will begin with the audience present in the stands; the news was confirmed by the organization of the Finnish stage of Kontiolahti on Monday: at the moment about 1,000 tickets have been sold for the races on Saturday, 800 instead for the races on Sunday.
The fans attending the matches will be located on four stands, to ensure the necessary distance and to avoid crowds; the use of the mask will not be mandatory (instead mandatory inside the facility for athletes, technicians and professionals).
The last stage of last season of the World Cup took place in the same location: in that circumstance the races were staged behind closed doors and there was no lack of controversy regarding the decision not to cancel the stage due to the nascent Coronavirus pandemic.
At the moment Finland is one of the European countries least affected by the second pandemic wave and sporting events are open to the public, albeit with some limitations; last weekend, in fact, some hundreds of spectators were present in the two Alpine Ski World Cup races held in Levi. The current measures will be valid until the end of November, therefore, as regards the second stage of the World Cup, which will also be staged in Kontiolahti from 3 to 6 December, the procedures for accessing the "Kontiolahti Biathlon Stadium" are not yet known. , which will be influenced by the decisions that the Finnish government will take in the coming days.
