At the Euro Super Series curling event, the Cortina team will play in the final stage of the women’s competition, while Constantini and Mariani’s defeat to Paetz brings their campaign to an end. Team Retornaz suffer their first loss to Schwaller, while the Valtellina outfit are flying.

Team Zardini Lacedelli completed a perfect run to advance directly to the semifinals on the ice in Stirling.

It has been a dream Euro Super Series so far for the new team formed by Giulia Zardini Lacedelli, Marta Lo Deserto, Elena Antonia Mathis and Rachele Scalesse (coached by Schmidt), with a fourth win in as many games in the first phase of the international event in Scotland, defeating Norway’s Team Ramsfjell 5-4.

It was a third defeat and the end of the road for Team Constantini, beaten 10-5 by Alina Paetz & Co., who in their final game at their first real tournament at this level also faced Rebecca Mariani and teammates, defeating them 10-2. Team Paetz will be Zardini Lacedelli’s semifinal opponents, after their opening-phase clash was decided in the Italians’ favour in a shoot-out.

In the men’s event, Team Retornaz (skip Joel alongside Alberto Pimpini, Stefano and Andrea Gilli) reached this morning’s quarter-final against Carson despite suffering their first defeat yesterday to Schwaller (the Swiss won 8-2). Team Spiller, featuring Cesare and Stefano Spiller alongside Mosaner and Arman, remain unbeaten after also overcoming Hoesli (6-5 in a thrilling finale) and Waddell (a convincing 8-2). They then defeated Kim Schwaller and teammates 7-2 this morning to reach the tournament semifinals, where they will face Scotland’s Team Hardie.
