It will be a crucial three days, which will be officially confirmed tomorrow with the expected FIS snow check.
Are is in good condition for the women's World Cup races which, from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 March, will offer a parallel slalom, a giant and a slalom at the end. It could be the stage of Mikaela Shiffrin's return, as has been rumored more and more insistently for a couple of days, and will clearly be the highlight for the defense of the leadership in the general of Federica Brignone.
As colleague Gianmario Bonzi reports, the blue will already leave Wednesday for Sweden, taking advantage of the opportunity to prepare with ample margin since the next weekend will not take place due to the cancellation of the giant and slalom scheduled in Ofterschwang. The training program to be defined, since there are not many places available, but after a couple of days of rest (in addition to Sunday's in La Thuile, since it has not been run and the girls have not trained) it will be an excellent opportunity to finish the preparation. Returning from Sweden, among other things, there will be no more time to work, with the finals of Cortina (crossing your fingers ...) already on Monday 16 with the first tests of the descent.
And there is another aspect that, in the current state of things, does not endanger the races in Scandinavia: both men in Kvitfjell, as Markus Waldner confirmed last night, and women in Are, do not risk that '' embargo in terms of access restrictions between Norway and Sweden, as is happening in various other countries around the world and which has already led to cancellations and postponements of major events.
