Chiara Costazza: "I have no regrets, despite the setbacks I am very happy with my career"

The statements of Chiara Costazza, drawn from fisi.org, announced her retirement on live TV at the end of the World Cup women's slalom.

"It is an incredible emotion, I gave everything to this sport and I have no regrets. I always gave my best, sometimes it did not go well like today, but now everything has passed. I enjoy this moment, there are so many people who have always supported me. The embrace of the team? We love each other very much, even though it is an individual sport we are a team, we rejoice and suffer so much together. The moment you realize that this little beautiful world is ending is sad: I am anyway very very serene, it was time to make this choice, despite having been fought because I am still physically well, age is what it is, but in many competitions I have shown that I can stay with the most brave, maybe not the best. "But in the top ten. They always told me to make this decision when I felt like it, and it did. I have no regrets. I'm very happy about my whole career and the people I met on my way. It was a '' esp a madness of life that I would wish for everyone, even though there are so many blows. The beauty is that you can always get up and leave the next day. I learned a lot and I hope to pass it on to others. I got to a point where I couldn't do that little bit more. Surely my decision was also due to this. Entering the top ten is a good result, but when you know what it means to be in front, it's almost content. I saw that I reached a limit: more than that I could not do, maybe I suffered the last period after the head injury and after the injury I was not the same. But I was lucky to get here, I skied a lot in my life, I thank those who gave me the opportunity. Now I realized that it's over, I'm curious to find out what's next, I've been living this life for years. But it took me so long to get some answers about skiing, now I'll take more to understand what I want to do. I don't know which doors will open to me. I will evaluate a little, I am already an instructor and therefore I remain in the skiing world. Maybe I'll be the 'coach'.
