Clara Direz really took a big risk and could lose a good part of the 2020/21 season, but at least she can breathe a sigh of relief and prepare a return to high levels, albeit with not very short times.
The talent from France, who had already shown beautiful things in giant in recent times, only to find the best day of his career so far on January 19th, winning the parallel giant of Sestriere, was struck at the end of September by pulmonary embolism , in full preparation for the Soelden opening.
Hospitalized for weeks, then finally home and now already able to train physically, Clara has made it known that she will have to wait at least until the end of December to put her skis back on. There is no parallel of Lech / Zuers, among other things the only one of the season (provided that it is disputed), but also the two giants of Courchevel and the year-end one in Semmering will not see her at the starting gate. Even in January 2021 it will not be easy to see her immediately in the race, given the long stop (three full months without skis), but the good news concerns her general conditions. “I am better and I resumed physical training normally, without any consequences - wrote the young transalpine on social media - I begin to get answers on the reasons that caused me to embolism, but the doctors are still digging deeply.
The bad news? I'm still on anti-coagulation therapy and skiing is too dangerous for me now. This treatment will last until the end of December, I will not ski at least until that date. At this point, I can't wait for 2021 to arrive ... ".
