Federica chosen among the best sportsmen in the world after the cup achievement. The words of Alberto Tomba, member of the Laureus Academy: "An extraordinary result for you and all of Italy".

The names of the candidates of the various categories were announced today for the 22nd edition of the “Laureus World Sports Awards”, one of the highest awards for sportsmen worldwide.
Among the nominations for the women's award of the year 2020, there is also Federica Brignone, the first Italian to win the absolute World Cup: "I am very honored to have been nominated by the media around the world for this prestigious prize - said the woman from Valle d'Aosta - It was an important year for me and also for Italian skiing thanks to the overall World Cup victory. Alberto Tomba is a member of the Laureus Academy and an Italian ski legend, so this makes the nomination even more special ”.
Tomba himself declared: “Congratulations to Federica for her nomination and for the great victory last year. It was an extraordinary result for her and for all of Italy. Her World Cup victory was the first ever for Italian women's skiing and hopefully it won't be the last. I wish you to get on the podium in many other races in the future ”. In addition to Federica, among the selected athletes we also find the tennis star, Naomi Osaka, winner of the US Open for the second time last September (and recent winner of the Australian Open 2021), the Dutch Anna Van der Breggen, winner of the title at time trial and in line at the Cycling World Championships in Imola, Kenyan Brigid Kosgei, first in the London Marathon, Wendie Renard, captain of Lyon, team that won the Women's Champions League for the fifth consecutive time and the basketball player Breanna Stewart, who led the Seattle Storm team to the top of the WNBA Championship standings.
