For Viktoria Rebensburg, the real restart of the summer ski preparation took place at the weekend in Saas Fee.
The last season of the Kreuth native champion has been in alternate phases, with a difficult first part and a continuously growing final, from the silver world of Are in "his" giant (with some regret and how much for the comeback suffered from Petra Vhlova ...) to the victory in super-g at the Soldeu finals, the first and only seal of a vintage 2018/19 which has however seen her finish in 4th place in the overall World Cup standings, after the 3rd of the previous year (his best career result, together with the same placement of two years before).
"Viki" wants to raise the bar, aware that at 29 the time has come to have that continuity that can allow her to always fight for victory in three specialties, looking for the year without the big events to bring home that one which would be his fourth World Cup of the giant, after the triumphs of 2011, 2012 and 2018. Mission far from impossible, for a 20 year old who wore the Olympic gold in specialty.
"I'm fine, the preparation so far has been good and I'm looking forward to starting to get serious - the words of the German multipurpose - The goal is to start strong since Solden and certainly the specialty cup is in the sights. For everything else, we'll see how things go with speed ... ".
From Shiffrin to Vhlova and Holdener, passing through the "block" of Austrian and Swiss speed, the opponents for the Italians are not lacking.
