The speed team of the Austrian women's national team chose the Stelvio snows for the first training session of the new 2019/2020 vintage, as from the days before August 15th to the weekend, Nicole Schmidhofer and her companions are preparing on the glacier between Alto Adige and Valtellina.
"We found very good conditions, it is good to start doing serious again together with all the companions with whom we already formed a real group last year", the words of the same winner of the last Downhill World Cup. Austria dominated speed trials, monopolizing the podium in the downhill specialty rankings, with Schmidhofer raising the cup ahead of Venier and Siebenhofer, while in super-g the same "Nici" finished second behind Mikaela Shiffrin. There was, however, also the enormous disappointment of the missed medals at the world championships in Are, on a track where the aquilotte did not express themselves at the level demonstrated during the season.
At the Stelvio, Nicole Schmidhofer, Ramona Siebenhofer, Stephanie Venier, Mirjam Puchner and Tamara Tippler climbed, waiting to find Anna Veith, Cornelia Huetter and Christine Scheyer in particular, who had suffered serious injuries last winter. The next training session for Austrian sprinters is scheduled in Saas Fee in the last week of August, before heading to Chile, to ski on the slopes of La Parva from 4 to 20 September.
