Shiffrin is already in Chile, a month focused on speed alongside partner Kilde, with Breezy Johnson also there

Based in Portillo, the South American campaign has begun for the reigning World Cup champion, who wants to rediscover a certain level, at least in super-G. And the Olympic and world downhill champion...

The long training block planned for Mikaela Shiffrin on the Chilean snow got underway in recent hours.

A key month of training, also alternating with preparation for giant slalom and slalom, but devoting considerable time to speed, particularly on the Portillo courses. The American star wants to return to top form at least in super-G, having already stated that she intends to compete in most of them in the next World Cup, also because Mikaela is aware that, to fight once again for what would be a record seventh Crystal Globe, the third discipline will be necessary, above all in the battle with Emma Aicher.

Breezy Johnson is also with her, having already been training in South America for several days. For the Olympic and world champion, the objective can only be to target, in 2026/27—which for her will begin with the mid-December opener at Beaver Creek—the first World Cup victory of her career and perhaps the trophy in the premier discipline.

As last summer, Shiffrin is also accompanied by her partner Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and the Norwegian national team, as it was decided to work together with the two-time downhill World Cup winner, who could provide fundamental support on the slopes as well in rebuilding the confidence that, after his crash in Cortina 2024 (followed by the incident in Killington, albeit in giant slalom), had been lost, as demonstrated by the super-G appearances of the ’95-born skier from Edwards last winter.
