Another story compared to 2020, when Mikaela Shiffrin found herself, between the pain of the disappearance of her father Jeff and the objective difficulties in finding the possibility of skiing in the United States in the middle of the pandemic period, to present herself in Europe far from her parents better standards, so much so that even the opening giant of Soelden was given up.
Well, after having closed a World Cup season with three consecutive second places in which the champion of Eagle found herself at the highest level, with 3 victories and the poker of medals (in as many races) in the world championship in Cortina, now Mikaela wants to change gear and to do so she needs to go back to putting together a quantity of training days in the snow similar to those of the golden years (we are talking about sixty days from spring to autumn, when last year he put together just about twenty).
Here, together with some team mates, Shiffrin has just concluded a new session on the slopes of Squaw Valley, after returning to the States (previously she had trained in Kuehtai, Austria, after the finals in Lenzerheide) and the possibility of undergo the Covid vaccination. Other important tests, those in the area located between California and Nevada, a stone's throw from Lake Tahoe. Right here, the 26-year-old from Colorado took the tests in the last "normal" spring, that of 2019, with the venue of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games which instead hosted the World Cup also in March 2017.
And on that last occasion, who won slalom and giant? Obviously Mikaela Shiffrin ...
