Two perfect weeks, to get to the top at the slalom opening in Levi.
Livio Magoni and his staff have left nothing to chance to ensure that Petra Vlhova prepares the assault to the top of the World Cup in the best possible way (sure, it's very soon, but last season shows that it is better to be faced with this situation ...), with the double race in Lapland next weekend which already represents a first crossroads.
Since the beginning of November, the Slovakian champion has been training in Suomutunturi, the Finnish town not too far from Levi and where the conditions, as Magoni himself explained to us, are really similar to those that the athletes will find on the “Levi Black”. And from today Petra will also be competing in the two planned FIS slaloms: with the parallel of Lech / Zuers postponed, in fact, the choice was to stay in the north for a "complete review of the summer works on a technical level - word by the Bergamo technician - with many exercises mixed with pure quality training, also trying solutions between skis, plate, bindings and boots for both Levi and Lech's parallel ”.
Vlhova was able to train on glacier, salt, hard snow and with the "sign", simulating what he will find in the race next week from every point of view, from the flat starts to the accentuated humps of the first part of the Levi track, recreated on the slope by Suomutunturi. And Livio Magoni also wanted to work a lot on the combinations that he himself will propose in the second run of the first slalom on November 21, entrusted to his design (the first heat will be traced by the Austrian Plattner, while the second slalom on Sunday will have Mike as trackers Day and Klaus Mayrhofer, or the technicians of Mikaela Shiffrin and Wendy Holdener).
And then again tests on waxes, for a truly complete job as Team Vlhova had the Finnish resort available, being able to train alone until a couple of days ago. “I'm happy, we still have one week towards Levi and we can get closer with quality after a lot of technical work - Magoni's analysis - Petra is calm and I wanted these two FIS races because the competition is always motivating and qualitatively the best. We had to simulate the race and these tests are perfect for filing down the details, a sort of warm up. It's time to degass a little ... ”.
