The ski superstar Aksel Lund Svindal approaches the next season in promising conditions. Although the knee still needs special treatment, it resists all loads during training. Last week in Saas-Fee, the Norwegian remained standing for seven days in a row and had not done it for three years.

For the first time in three years, Svindal ended a season last March. In October 2014, the Achilles tendon had broken off in a football match and had remained stationary throughout the winter. In 2016 he won the super-G in Kitzbühel in January but the next day he fell downhill breaking the anterior cruciate ligament and the meniscus of his right knee. In 2017 he left the season in Wengen due to another knee surgery. Last winter, despite the ailments, he still won the gold downhill at the PyeongChang 2018 Games.
Now he faces the new season and it is not clear if he will be his last in competitive skiing. In March the knee was swollen in March as after an operation. "I was able to ride only for two months, then I started the weight training again and I thought I could still do something good," said the two-time Olympic champion at the Head of Sölden presentation press conference - I'm planning all winter, this is plan A. But there are also plans B and C. It depends on how your knee will go.
"Last year, I went to the limit or maybe even beyond the limit, I think I have to pay a little more attention this year, there were the Olympics last year, I tried very hard on the knee and I paid for it in the spring, now I'll have to use my head - Svindal continues that at almost 36 years he does not want to retire and does not have enough of the races, in fact, he's more relaxed than ever - it's still fun to know that if you go strong at the beginning of the season like Kjetil Jansrud and Matthias Mayer it means that you are well prepared and if you get ahead of them the adrenaline rises to a thousand and that's why it's still fun to race ".
