Kevin Page praises Sarrazin’s comeback: “It’s astounding what he has already done in giant slalom; now super-G”

Based in Tierra del Fuego for almost the entire month of September, training on the snow in Ushuaia, the French men’s giant slalom and slalom team is continuing its preparations for the 2026/27 season.

Cyprien Sarrazin is among them, and he has decided to do plenty of work on the giant slalom course after already rediscovering his speed last spring upon returning to the team, almost a year and a half after his dramatic crash in Bormio. The news regarding the condition of the two-time winner of the downhill on the Streif in 2024 continues to be very positive. Kevin Page, head of the technical events for the French team, told “Ski Chrono”: “Cyprien will now also compete in super-G. He needed to build up his stability before consistently returning to speed events, but he was astonishing from the very first sessions. He does everything with ease; he’s truly fantastic.”

Sarrazin has been in Argentina for around ten days, having arrived a week after Noel and his teammates. As for the 2022 Olympic slalom champion, he is also training regularly in giant slalom and, as has happened in the past, the idea of competing in Soelden is on the table to break the ice three weeks before Levi.

Alongside him until 24 September in the Cerro Castor ski area are the other leading French specialists in the rapid events, namely Amiez, Rassat and Muffat-Jeandet, as well as the giant slalom racers targeting Rettenbach: Anguenot, Favrot—who is building momentum after back problems and the resulting surgery—and Alban Elezi Cannaferina. The 2003-born skier, who has already reached the podium in Schladming, joined his teammates in Ushuaia after completing the first part of the South American camp in La Parva, training on the Chilean snow alongside the downhill racers.
