A track in poor conditions, between humidity and snow mixed with rain that fell in the hours before the start, heavily conditioned the first round of the men's slalom in Schladming.
Halfway through the race of the "night race" on the Planai, Marco Schwarz is in front of everyone: with the bib number 1, the Carinthian runs a very solid heat, confirming by now that he has returned to last year's levels. Behind him, the parties happened by chance immediately after the Austrian, there are Henrik Kristoffersen, only 14 cents away, and Alexis Pinturault who pays 32 and needs to take a fundamental podium in view of the World Cup.
The Frenchman has margin on the rest of the company, since Daniel Yule pays all the conditions of the mantle in the lower part of the Planai, finishing fourth at 75 cents and ahead of Foss-Solevaag (5th to 99), with the other big favorite Clément Noel who made a huge mistake on the third door, finishing at 2 â€60 and probably out of 30.
Then there is immediately a great Alex Vinatzer: yes, because with the bib number 15 the Gardena invents a half miracle, placing 6th at 1 â€25 from Schwarz, after a lightning start in the upper part. And Stefano Gross also gives signs of recovery on a track he loves, with the 10th fastest time at 1 â€44. In the second heat (8.45 pm) traced by Jacques Theolier, we will not see Giuliano Razzoli, positive until the last intermediate before the fatal fork in Reggio Emilia back from 7th place in Kitzbuehel.
