The presidentissimo Peter Schroecksnadel will be thinking of it, but also all the fans and enthusiasts of a nation that lives on skis. Without the ace, which has dominated the last eight years of the white circus, Austria is suffering a lot and the first four technical races of the season have already given important answers.
The podium obtained on Saturday in Levi by Katharina Truppe has saved the expedition on the snows of Lapland, but it is the male sector that has mostly disappointed the expectations, between the opening of Soelden with the only 12th place of Manuel Feller, and above all the first seasonal slalom on "Levi Black".
The best of the Wunderteam was Hirsch ... buehl, Christian name Christian, far from being a youngster (29 years), but now a fairly stable presence in the first group and a guarantee of solidity. Can the 7th place of the native of Bregenz be enough? No, also because the most awaited men ended up very far; Matt 11th, Feller 15th, Digruber on average (20th) and, certainly with excuses compared to his companions, Marco Schwarz 25th.
Now it's up to the sprinters, starting from Lake Louise, with an offensive trio not badly composed by Kriechmayr, Franz and Mayer. The season of Austria already seems to be in their hands to bring home something important.
