It will be his first official race version and always with snow and ice, but without skis and boots on his feet. If that of the past few days in Kitzbuehel had been a performance, Marcel Hirscher decided to do a little more seriously with the engines, participating this weekend (the event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday) at the GP Ice Race from Zell am See.
The Salzburg champion, winner of the last eight World Cups, has prepared himself in the last few days with a highly experienced driver such as Reinhold Sampl; Marcel will drive an Audi EKS RX S1 008, a car used in the 2018 and 2019 world rallycross championship and among the most powerful in this class. "At the beginning I was nervous and above all with great respect for the car and what I had to learn - said Hirscher after the last session at the wheel in Muhr - An impressive experience for me, given that the car is very fast and demanding. It is amazing how fast it takes to react and the maximum concentration; I can't wait for the race to come and, even if people perhaps expect a fast skier to drive so quickly, I will think about having fun and having the car safely in hand ".
