The 22-year-old from the Canton of Nidwalden does not want to waste time and, although aware that the giant represents the discipline where he can do better, he is already thinking about broadening horizons not only at speed, but also between narrow poles: yes, because slalom training is related to the desire to compete in all three Alpine combinations scheduled in the next World Cup calendar and then see how far you can get to the overall standings, a bit like Aleksander Aamodt Kilde did.
There are those who say, within the Swiss team, that in some heats the phenomenon of Buochs is faster than some specialists of the same red-crossed squadron, even if Odermatt always maintains a low profile. Yet, we are talking about an athlete who in 2018 won the junior combined world title, in that world championship event literally dominated in Davos, and who last season had to skip the Bormio and Wengen races due to injury, to then also give up on that conclusive of Hinterstoder.
In the next World Cup, albeit with all the doubts related to the dynamics of a calendar that could undergo various changes, there are always three appointments with the combined ones, starting from Bormio on December 29, passing through the Wengen classic on January 15 and finally with the return of Bansko, on February 27, on the "Marc Girardelli" where Odermatt made his debut in this discipline, at the World Cup level, in 2019 (finishing in 21st place).
