Marko Pfeifer launches Marco Schwarz: "Work to become a potential cup winner"

The coach in charge of the Austrian slalom team is convinced of the potential of the Carinthian, the best of his in the last season despite the return from the injury.

Everyone was waiting for Manuel Feller, back from the best races of his career in the previous year, or Michael Matt called in part to fill the huge hole created with the farewell of Marcel Hirscher. In Austria, however, the reference slalomist of the 2019/2020 season was Marco Schwarz, twice on the podium between Adelboden and Kitzbuehel (and with the regret of Schladming, when he led after the 1st heat); it was the 24-year-old from Carinthia who had some difficulties, together with Clément Noel, his captain Hirscher in that 2018/19 that was marking the explosion of the Wunderteam talent, before the knee crash suffered in the Bansko combined . Schwarz has not returned 100%, we would miss anything else, but after a year to re-adjust and return to the highest levels at least in the slalom, the plan to make him an athlete capable of fighting for the absolute World Cup has started again. Marko Pfeifer himself, technical manager of the Wunderteam slalom team, is convinced of this: “Marco is clearly developing with this perspective, but I am convinced that last season will be very useful, in his brutality, also for the other guys like Matt , Feller, Hirschbuehl, Gstrein and Pertl (the latter capable of achieving the first podium in his career in the final slalom of Chamonix, ed.) ". Pfeifer looks to the future with confidence, also in terms of training at the time of Covid-19: “If everything goes according to plan, in the coming weeks we will have 18 days of work on the snow with our slalom team. The arrival of Mike Pircher and Ferdinand Hirscher in the giant team? It is a very positive news for everyone, they have a huge amount of skills that will also help the slalomists themselves ".
