12 years after his debut in the World Cup, he is still there and wants to fight, despite the many injuries that have slowed him down in the career highlight.
Matteo Marsaglia will still be a reference of Alberto Ghidoni's Italjet, with whom he trained for two good weeks on the snows of the Stelvio, in order to prepare a 2020/21 season that will see the class' '85 stationed in Sansicario trying to play again, between downhill and super-g, important placements with the dream of finding that podium that has been missing for almost 8 years, or from that magical December 2012 that saw him seize the victory in the super-g of Beaver Creek and, a couple of weeks later, 2nd place in "his" discipline in Val Gardena.
Then a thousand problems and a bit of continuity found only for a little over a year: the 10th place in the descent of Kitzbuehel 2019 brought him back to a top ten of the World Cup, a position he was unable to achieve in the '' last vintage, decidedly particular, however, between cancellations and a very small calendar (only 6 super-gs went on stage).
Marsaglia has done well again on the Streif (12th downhill), demonstrating that the heart and technical skills on the toughest tracks are still there, despite a season conditioned also in 2019/2020 by a physical hitch, or the problem to the ankle remedied by falling in training at Copper Mountain, in the crucial period of preparation.
The Piedmontese by adoption will try to gain a place to participate in his fifth world championship, if Cortina is confirmed in 2021, but above all to demonstrate that he can still achieve something important, close to what is a talent unfortunately shown only to small flashes in recent years.
