Bormio launches the two-day World Cup in Milan. President Roda: "What a classic Stelvio"

The competitions will be officially presented next 28-29 December, when in Valtellina there will be a descent and a men's combined.

Back in the heart of the men's World Cup, Bormio is ready to host again a two-day competition that fans expect as the great closure of the calendar year, right at the end of what some people call the "Italian World Cup", given that from the Val Gardena until the days in Valtellina, the snows of the beautiful country are at the center of the white circus. Saturday 28 December with the descent and Sunday 29 with the first alpine combined of the season, in Bormio will be a show and today, in the Sala del Gonfalone of Palazzo Pirelli, in the Lombardy Region in Milan, the official presentation was held, launching in some way also the men's alpine skiing competitions at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics, which will be held right on the Stelvio. "The descent of Bormio has now become one of the great classics of modern skiing - said the FISI president, Flavio Roda - La Stelvio, with its technical difficulties, also tests the strongest athletes in the world, because in Bormio you never win by chance. The Bormio races have always been the second most important international sporting event in Lombardy, after the Formula 1 GP at Monza. This year there will also be many side events, with a view to growth for the World Cup event, but above all thinking about the 2026 appointment with the Olympics ”. For Antonio Rossi, undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region, with responsibility for major sporting events, "the Bormio track represents a challenge in the challenge for jet men", the words of the "Olympic canoeist," if first a success on the Stelvio was coveted, now that the track has been elected Olympic, the appeal for the Valtellina victory has grown further. Already from this edition, we aim to increase the involvement of the territory and increase the tourist offer and events related to the World Cup. The goal is to develop a crescendo of events to be tested, expanded and culminated in February 2026 with the Olympic challenges ".
