Cup calendars towards the definition: Sestriere returns for women and Bormio finds the combined instead of the super-g

The FIS congress, which ended Sunday in Cavtat-Dubrovnik, roughly confirmed the drafts, although there is no shortage of changes after the start in Solden

The weekend of 26-27 October will mark the start of the 2019/2020 World Cup, with the two classic giants scheduled on the Rettenbach, hoping that the men's race will be held after the cancellations of the last two years. Four weeks later we will go to Levi for a double slalom and then off to North America; the international federation will communicate the complete calendar only on Tuesday 4 June, but there will be 43 women's and 46 men's competitions, with the attempt to relaunch the Alpine combined, which will be proposed with 3 men's races and 4 for women. As a result, the super-g will be sacrificed in part (a choice that is very controversial among the athletes), again taken away from the Bormio weekend program, which will see the descent on the Stelvio on Saturday 28 and the combined stage Sunday, for the last race of the solar year. Speaking of Italian races, in addition to those in Valtellina the men's CdM will have the classic four races between Val Gardena and Alta Badia, one behind the other from 20 to 23 December with super-g, downhill, giant and parallel, the slalom di Campiglio moved to Wednesday 8 January 2020 and, obviously, the Cortina finals scheduled from 18 to 22 March. At the female level, in addition to the return of La Thuile four years after the last appearance, but with the descent of February 29 that will make the pair the next day with a combined and not a super-g, it will also return to Sestriere: on the hill appointment scheduled for the weekend of 18-19 January, with a giant on Saturday and a parallel Sunday. Specialty, the latter, that the FIS wants to enhance more and more, as already mentioned in the FIS council during the Are World Championships, officially included at the individual level in the program of the world championships in Cortina 2021, where there will therefore be a competition in more in the program as there will also be the alpine combined. About parallel, the WCSL for this specialty will be born only from the 2020/21 season, one year later than expected.
