The 2020/21 European Cup will not start from Zinal and Sankt Moritz, as it now seemed certain after the cancellation of the “new opening” of Reiteralm, which at the end of November was supposed to stage two male giants. It will not be the Styrian location to host the opening, but the start will be right on the Austrian snow, both for men and women.
The FIS made official in the evening a new appointment with two male giants on the snows of Obergurgl, a town near Soelden, just beyond the Passo del Rombo on the Austrian side, where the sprinters of the Wunderteam have trained a lot in recent days. Double race between the wide doors on 2-3 December, practically three days before the giants of CdM in Val d''Isère and possible test for many of those who, apart from Lech / Zuers, have been in the pits for over a month and a half after the opening in Soelden.
The women's calendar of the European Cup, on the other hand, will have its first stop in Hippach, in the heart of the Zillertal, in Tyrol; double giant on 5-6 December, in the weekend that will see the World Cup involved in the two super-gs of Sankt Moritz, then doubled on the 8-9 of the month in the continental circuit, to then arrive at the Italian races with the news, already announced in recent days, of the two women's slaloms in Valle Aurina, on 12-13 December.
