Garmisch-Partenkirchen has in fact decided to re-launch the Gudiberg, the legendary slalom slope that for decades has hosted some of the most beautiful races in the specialty, from the triumphs of Stenmark to those of Tomba, until the last performance at the 2011 World Championships , when Marlies Schild and Jean-Baptiste Grange imposed themselves (with Manfred Moelgg bronze).
The last few seasons in the maximum circuit, in fact, have seen on stage performances only on the Kandahar (with relative variants), between the speed races for the female sector and the descent-giant pairing for men.
The Olympic season 2021/22 will be an exception, as Peter Fischer announced: "In 2022 two slaloms will be held on the Gudiberg", the head of the organizing committee revealed, confirming a verbal agreement with the FIS to "replace" the classics male races planned. In fact, it will happen that women will regularly play on 29-30 January, with descent and super-g scheduled before the Beijing Games, while on 26-27 February, returning from China, the athletes will compete in Garmisch-Partenkirchen disputing a slalom and a parallel slalom on the Gudiberg, a very steep gut (230 meters in altitude on 500 meters of track length, but with a chilling central part) and almost always frozen, which will not be used if the Bavarian World Cup nomination is successful 2025.
