Austria shows up and dt Puelacher warns: "Without Hirscher, the favorite Pinturault. Feller? From podium to Solden"

Classic opening event at the Europark with all the protagonists of winter sports for the Wunderteam.

Austria presented the national teams and the over 370 athletes who will face the 2019/2020 season to the public, in a two-day event that ended in Innsbruck after marching in Salzburg with the new suits and items of clothing that go into the sign of continuity, with the dominant red color and the usual elements of white, gray and black. With Vincent Kriechmayr, Nicole Schmidhofer, Anna Veith and Stefan Kraft in the front row on the catwalk, the meeting with fans and enthusiasts was the occasion to take stock of the situation with the press and, in this regard, it is interesting to analyze the words of Austria's men's alpine skiing technical director, Andreas Puelacher. With the withdrawal of Marcel Hirscher, the Wunderteam lost the reference for the technical specialties and obviously from the perspective of the general World Cup, forced therefore to chase rivals like Pinturault, Kristoffersen, Dominik Paris himself and young men like Noel and Odermatt. "It 's true, we start a season with a different scenario, the favorites are certainly others - Puelacher put his hands - I see Alexis Pinturault as a reference for the crystal ball, even though Kristoffersen certainly has good chances and maybe even Marco Odermatt may already be a candidate. We will try to fight as long as possible for the General Cup, we'll see if we can do it ”. On the departure of Hirscher, the Austrian coach admits: "Of course, losing the best athlete by far is very bad, but we have a strong and deep team to make a good season. I don't want to indicate a single name, we will gradually discover which of our boys will have the chance to fight for a cup. I think we will have a chance in every discipline, the desire of all of us is to get a crystal ball of specialty in speed, with Sepp Brunner's team giving us important possibilities with many kids ". Puelacher openly criticized the maxi-calendar proposed by the FIS: "The ball is in the hands of the federation, but such a situation is incomprehensible to me too. The commitment for the athletes is enormous, with this calendar they can no longer be polyvalent and it also becomes difficult to practice three disciplines between training, travel, material testing and the necessary physical and mental recovery ". Finally, on the prospects for the opening of Solden: "It won't be easy for us, considering that many athletes will have a fairly high starting number. I am also convinced that from mid-season we will have a strong team even among the wide doors. Feller the reference? Yes, Manuel certainly has the chance to get on the podium already on the Rettenbach ".
